📣 CPS High School Admissions Update | Important PreACT 9 Scoring Change

CPS has released an important update regarding how PreACT 9 Secure scores will be used for high school admissions this fall.

Students will still take all four sections:

📝 English📐 Math📖 Reading🔬 Science

However, there is an important update to the admissions scoring:

👉 Only English, Math, and Reading will be included in the Composite Score used for CPS high school admissions. Science will NOT be included in the admissions Composite Score.

For students applying to Selective Enrollment High Schools, CPS has also announced the following same-score ranking order (Tie-breaker):

🎯 How We Are Adjusting Our Final Preparation

Based on this newly released scoring information, we are adjusting the focus of our PreACT 9 Final Review Bootcamp accordingly.

Our students completed their planned Science review and question-type training last week. The remaining sessions will now concentrate on Math, Reading, and English, the three sections that directly contribute to the CPS admissions Composite Score.

All three sections will receive comprehensive review, with additional strategic attention to Math, as it contributes to the Composite Score and is also the first same-score ranking factor for Selective Enrollment admissions. Reading is the second.

📚 NEW | PreACT 9 Final Strategy Workshop

For students who may not have time to participate in a multi-week Final Review Bootcamp, or who would like a final readiness check, targeted review, and strategy refinement before test day, we are adding a focused one-day PreACT 9 Final Strategy Workshop on the September 25 CPS Non-Attendance Day.

The workshop will focus on Math, Reading, and English — the three sections used for CPS high school admissions scoring — and will include:
